Hair in the sun: step-by-step plan for 24-hour care

Washing, styling, special care. There is no longer any reason for dried out summer hair. Summer hair care is possible 24 hours a day. You have summer shampoo, solar oil, and hair masks for the summer. But what do you need or don't need and what steps do you follow? What is the best time to wash your hair, and what are the best products? Read more.

The evening before

The moment to wash your hair in summer times is when you go out of the sun. Some people are 'just' used to showering in the morning and grabbing the hair with a wash for the sake of convenience. To cheerfully step into the shower that evening of the same day to free the hair from sea and swimming pool water, sand and other summery stuff. This is really too much of a good thing. If you wash your hair only the afternoon or evening after your sunbath, the sebum production that protects hair and scalp can get going overnight. Moreover, this way you do not get rid of your naturally occurring fat and moisture twice.

What did you do with your summer hair?

Anyone who just takes a shampoo will have noticed: after washing, the hair still feels different than usual. Stiffer, less flexible. It is not for nothing that all kinds of summer shampoos are now available. These are specially formulated to wash chlorine and salt from the hair. In addition, the shampoos provide gentle care, and often contain a UV filter that blocks harmful sun rays. For example, choose the Sun Active shampoo from the Indola brand of the same name. Conveniently, it can be used for both hair and skin, which also applies to the Wella Sun Hair and Body Shampoo. That saves again in the holiday suitcase. From Kérastase there is Bain Après-Soleil, a shampoo for dry to normal hair with sunscreen. For colored hair that quickly discolours in the sun or dries out extra, there is 'Bain Après-Soleil Filter UV Défense Active'. A whole mouth full, which means that the shampoo takes care of, retains color, filters out UV rays and promotes shine.

Special care

Choose from two products after washing your hair. Use a sunscreen rinse or intensive care cream for daily care (for example Lait Après-Soleil from Kérastase). Or opt for a hair mask, to be used at least once as much as twice a week as intensive treatment. Especially for the summer there is the L'Oréal Solar Sublime hair mask. If you have very dry hair, you can close with a leave-in product, or a treatment that you do not rinse off: comparable to a day or night cream for hair. Think of Schwarzkopf BC Sun Soft Ends Fluid, which repairs and protects, in particular, sun-damaged ends.

Private brands can also be great

Did you know that with luxury brands you pay as much as half or even 70% for the marketing campaigns, and not for the product itself? Hence, products from the Hema or Etos for a fraction of the price can also be fine. They are also more animal-friendly because they are not exported to countries where animal testing is still the standard. However, luxury brands are at the forefront of product development, so that they incorporate the latest gadgets into their products the fastest.

The next day

The well-groomed hair has been able to recover from your sun bath for a long night. Now it's time to prepare for a new day in the sun. If you go purely for care, you can make a very nice wet look with a sun oil with UV filter, such as Sun Active Protective Hair Oil from Indola, or provide the hair with a protective layer with Sun Reflects Protect Spray from Goldwell. Styling and caring at the same time is also an option, for example with the sun hair gel Sun Active Hair Gel from Indola. L'Oréal Solar Sublime Milk Spray takes care of the hair, but also helps to tame hard to get her in line with fluff and jumping. This summer? Sun clear, shiny and well-cared for summer hair!
